How do I convert a GIF to MP4 and make it loop?
Open the GIF in loop.video, choose a Length or Number of times under Repeat, and press Export video. The MP4 contains the GIF repeated back to back.

Open a GIF, repeat it to the length you need, add a soundtrack if you like, and save an MP4 that any app will take.
To turn a GIF into a looping MP4, open the GIF in loop.video, choose how long the video should run under Repeat, and press Export video. The GIF is converted to video when it opens, then repeated back to back until it fills the length or count you set.
A GIF loops forever on its own, but only where GIFs are welcome. Many social platforms and video editors want a proper video file instead, and a two-second animation is often too short for them anyway. An MP4 solves both problems and can carry music, which a GIF never can.
The conversion and the export run in your browser. Your GIF is not uploaded, there is no watermark and no sign-up.
Drop the GIF onto the page or press Select video (Choose video on a phone). It is turned into a video first so it can be looped. GIFs have no sound, so the clip starts silent.
This page starts on Repeat → Length at 30 s. Pick 1 min, 10 min or longer, or type a Custom length up to 3:00:00. For a fixed count instead, choose Number of times and use ×2, ×3, ×5 or ×10.
Press Watch the join (J). Most GIFs are made to loop, so Cut under Join is usually right. If the GIF jumps at the restart, try Blend or Crossfade.
Set Sound to Music and press Choose music to add an MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG file. Or choose Until the music ends under Repeat so the video runs exactly as long as your trimmed song.
Leave Format on MP4 under Export settings and press Export video. When it is ready, press Download video, or Share or save to Photos on a phone.
Converting does not improve the picture. A GIF has at most 256 colours per frame and is often small; the MP4 keeps exactly those colours and dimensions. If you still have the original video the GIF was made from, loop that instead for a sharper result.
There are two ways to stretch a GIF, and they suit different jobs.
Long files stay manageable: the loop is encoded once and written again for every repeat, so even an hour-long video of a tiny GIF finishes quickly. If you are padding a clip to reach a minimum length, making a video longer compares looping with other approaches.
A GIF does not have a frame rate in the usual sense. Each frame stores its own display time in hundredths of a second, so an animation can hold one frame for a second and flash the next for a few hundredths. That uneven rhythm is part of many GIFs’ character, and it is why a GIF can look slightly different from one viewer to another. Browsers, for example, slow down frames with extremely short delays.
Since a GIF has no sound of its own, music is the natural partner. After Choose music, set Music start and Music end to pick the section of the song you want, add Fade in and Fade out so it does not start or stop abruptly, and set the Volume.
If the video runs longer than the song, switch on Repeat the music so the track starts again. Or let the song set the length: Until the music ends loops the GIF for exactly as long as the trimmed track. More on this in loop a video with music.
Use music you have the right to use, especially for anything posted publicly; platforms may mute or block tracks they recognise.
GIFs come in every shape. Under More options, Shape crops to 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Stories, 4:5 or 1:1 for a feed post, or 16:9 for landscape. Drag the preview, or use Position, to choose what stays in the frame. The Instagram loop video page has more on fitting each format.

Repeat it. Choose Length and pick a duration such as 30 s or 1 min, or type a Custom length. The GIF repeats until it fills that time, and the last pass is trimmed to end exactly on it.
GIF files never contain audio. To give the video sound, set Sound to Music and choose a song from your device.
Convert it to an MP4 first. Instagram expects photos or videos, and an MP4 of your GIF, repeated to a few seconds or more and cropped with Shape, uploads like any other video.
No. It keeps the GIF’s colours and pixel size. What it adds is wider acceptance, a length of your choosing and room for music.
No. loop.video repeats the animation at its own pace and has no speed setting.
No. MP4 video cannot be transparent, so see-through areas become solid in the exported video.
